Firefighters arrived on scene of a 1,100 square foot, single story residential structure with flames showing from the side of the building. Firefighters pulled a hose line to the front of the building, and heard someone screaming from inside.

The firefighter from the Tehachapi Fire Station used his hands to breach a hole from the exterior wall to inside of the house where he heard the screams, and found an approximately 40 year old female. The firefighter grabbed the victim’s legs and was able to successfully remove her from the room involved with fire, to awaiting ambulance personnel. The female victim was the transferred to a local burn center via air ambulance, where she is being treated for severe burns.

Fire crews were then able to extinguish the fire, sparing an estimated 70% of the home from being destroyed.
