Heart Hospital Bakersfield, CA

Just before 10:50 this morning the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a broken gas line in the parking lot of the Bakersfield Heart Hospital. First arriving crews discovered that a 3 inch gas line had been ruptured due to construction. The Fire Department immediately isolated and denied entry to the parking lot and surrounding grounds near the leak. PG&E along with Kern Environmental Health were requested to respond. The CCMC Central Cardiology Building adjacent to the Heart Hospital was evacuated. The Emergency Room at Bakersfield Heart was closed and the entire Hospital was Sheltered in place. PG&E arrived on scene and shut down the Gas line. There were no injuries to civilians or emergency responders. Both buildings have been repopulated and opened for business at this time.
