Delano, CA

At approximately 11:47 p.m., Kern County Fire Department emergency dispatchers received calls reporting a fire in a residence. Firefighters were dispatched to the 1300 block of 11th Avenue. The first firefighters to arrive found a home, approximately 1,100 square foot in size, with most windows boarded up. Smoke was issuing from the eves and fire was seen from two windows of a corner bedroom. Firefighters immediately began extinguishing the fire through the open windows, from the exterior of the residence. As a result of the quick application of water additional firefighters were able to enter the home, conduct a search for potential victims, and completely extinguish the fire. Extensive amounts of overhaul were required by firefighters to ensure all hotspots were found and extinguished.
