Bakersfield, CA

At 12:00 am Kern County Firefighters were dispatched to the 1400 block of Crestmont Drive. A passerby had called 911 and reported fire coming from an apartment. When the first fire engine arrived they found a large multi-unit commercial building with fire coming from multiple sides. Additional resources were requested to bring the fire under control. Early on firefighters found the building to have a common attic that was almost completely involved with fire. Great efforts were undertaken by firefighters working on the exterior and interior of the building to stop the fire. A direct result of firefighters coordinated tactics, to ventilate through the roof while water was applied to the fire inside, saved an incredible portion of the building. Personnel were on scene for approximately three hours to ensure the fire was completely extinguished. There were no civilians or firefighters injured.
