Bakersfield, CA

At 2:05 p.m., Kern County Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire in the city of Wasco.  Engine 31 arrived on scene and announced “heavy fire from the rear of the structure.”  Bystanders advised firefighters that there were occupants still in the burning home.  Firefighters quickly completed a search of the interior before the roof collapsed.  No occupants were found.   Neighboring homes were threatened by the fire, but crews were able to protect all adjacent structures.

The involved structure sustained major structural damage estimated at $150,000. No report of injuries to civilians or firefighters.  Fire cause under investigation.
