Just before 4:00 AM, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a structure fire in the 1500 block of Ralston Street. The first responding unit reported a fully involved single-story single-family dwelling of approximately 1200 square feet with an additional structure threatened to the rear. At that time, the reinforced alarm was upgraded to a 2nd Alarm Fire. Crews fought the fire defensively and utilized a fire hydrant that was 50 yards east of the incident. Firefighters achieved a quick knock down on the fire and several incoming 2nd Alarm Resources were cancelled. The fire was fully extinguished in approximately 40 minutes. The main structure was a total loss and the garage to the rear sustained moderate damage. KCFD Fire Investigators are looking into the cause. PG&E responded to the incident and advised that there was no electricity to the structure. The home was inhabited by at least two people. They were able to safely exit the structure.
