At 4:54 p.m. Kern County Fire Department emergency personnel responded to a house fire in the 2000 block of Esther drive. Upon arrival firefighters found the garage portion of a home completely engulfed in fire. Firefighters assessed the need for any potential rescue and began extinguishing the fire. Firefighters worked to keep the fire damage to the living areas of the home to a minimum, while protecting exposed vehicles and a neighboring house from the fire. Five residents living in this home will be displaced. A CPF SAVE card has been issued to assist the family with replacing needed daily use items.
Firefighters on scene could not confirm the presence of working smoke alarms in the home. The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind our community to have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in the home.
