Bakersfield, CA

Just before 8:00 a.m. this morning the Kern County Fire Department responded to an outside fire threatening commercial buildings. The origin of the fire appears to have been at a nearby homeless encampment, between the back of business property and railroad tracks. Firefighters overcame access issues from the active railway and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the inside of the threatened buildings. Firefighters remain on scene to completely extinguish the fire and assist with salvaging items of value for the businesses impacted. Two local businesses were directly affected by the fire activity but will be able to continue normal operations today due to the quick control of the fire by the arriving firefighters.

Assisting Agencies:  Delano Police Department
