Mojave,  CA

At approximately 12:30 p.m. the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for a house on fire in the 3200 block of Gregory Drive in Mojave. Extra resources were ordered when heavy black smoke could be seen from the station. The first arriving engine company was faced with a wall of fire coming from the garage, involving the vehicle in the driveway and quickly spreading to the adjacent residence. With all occupants accounted for and heavy fire in the primary residence crews begin saving the adjacent structure working towards the fully involved garage. As additional crews arrived from Rosamond and Tehachapi hose lines were extended to extinguish the garage fire. Both fires were able to be brought under control in 20 minutes. Due to quick action and coordinated attacks, the fire was held to the garage of origin, with minor extension into the main house and moderate exterior damage to the adjacent residence. The cause was determined to be due to a juvenile playing with fire. Red Cross was notified of the six occupants that were displaced due to the fire. There were no injuries as a result of this fire.
