Buttonwillow,  CA

At approximately 10:00 p.m. Kern County Fire Department employees saw flames and smoke coming from the neighborhood west of Station 25 in Buttonwillow. A reinforced structure response, that included Engines: 25, 24, 26, 32, 23; Battalions 2, 6; and a Safety Officer were dispatched. Upon arrival at the 100 block of Lux Avenue the first in crew found a 30' shed fully involved with multiple cars, a house, and a large pesticide storage facility threatened. Crews made an aggressive exterior attack to contain the fire and successfully kept it from spreading to the exposures. The adjacent house was evacuated and no injuries were sustained. Approximately 13 firefighters were on scene.  The shed is a total loss and fire cause is under investigation.

Additional Information: The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind residence to make sure you have a working smoke detector in your home. It is a good reminder to check all smoke detectors and replace the battery if needed.
