At 3:25 PM the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for a roadside fire along Interstate 5 near Twisselman Rd. Firefighters from the Lost Hills fire station were first to arrive at the scene and reported a total of 10 fires burning in dry grass along the freeway. Additional units were requested and assisted in saving one house, two trailers and six cars. Several of the fires burned together. The largest fire was 486 acres, one fire at 8 acres, and the third fire was stopped at 6 acres. 500 acres burned, and no injuries reported. These fires were caused by a vehicle traveling northbound on I-5.
