At 7:20 p.m, Kern County Firefighters were dispatched to reports of a man stuck in an industrial potato sorting machine. The first fire engine arrived on scene within 10 minutes and reported that the individual had his arm caught between two rollers on the sorting equipment. Due to the technical nature of the rescue, KCFD Urban Search and Rescue 52 was started to the indcicent. Additionally, a rescure medic from Bakersfield Fire Department was started to assist in managing the patient on scene. Coordinated efforts between crews at the scene led to a successful extrication of the patient 50 minutes after arrival. The patient was transported to a local trauma center by ground ambulance.
