Just after 2:00 p.m, dispatchers at the Kern County Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting a fire in a residence known to be vacant in East Bakersfield. A reinforced structure response was then dispatched to the 700 block of South Williams Street. When firefighters arrived on scene they found a 1,000 square foot, single story, single family home well involved with fire. Firefighters coordinated their efforts to confine and extinguishing the fire in the home of origin. Although the home was known to be vacant, firefighters prepared for the possibility of conducting a rescue and carefully searched the home of origin for possible occupants. There were no occupants found in the home of origin and no injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported. KCFD Fire investigators were called to the scene to investigate the cause and origin.
