Tehachapi, CA

At approximately 9:00 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at the cement plant in the 13000 block of Tehachapi Boulevard in Tehachapi, CA. First crew arrived on scene and reported a heavy amount of smoke at the top of a 5 story conveyor belt. Due to poor weather, difficult access and the physical exertion needed to get to the top of the tower with all the necessary equipment, an enhanced alarm was requested followed by a request for a second alarm for manpower. Crews did a great job getting the fire out and will remain on scene until all hot spots are extinguished. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, but it is believed to be accidental.
