At 1:44 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department’s Emergency Communication Center received a call for smoke and flames coming from a house. Fire engines were dispatched to the 5300 block of Patton Way. The first arriving engine company encountered a well involved fire in a front bedroom of the home. The fire had burned into the attic and though the roof. Firefighters utilized a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) to perform a primary search of the residence looking for any people or animals that may have been trapped in the home. In conjunction with the search, an aggressive interior fire attack was made to prevent further fire spread throughout the home. Firefighters were able to quickly control and extinguish the fire. There was no one home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to civilians or fire personnel.
