McFarland, CA

On Saturday July 14th at approximately 1713 hours Kern County Fire crews responded to multiple reports of a structure fire in the 100 block of Cliff Avenue in McFarland. First arriving crews found a single family home with heavy fire in the attached garage and rapidly spreading. The fire also immediately threatened the next door neighbor's house with flames impinging on it. An aggressive attack was initiated, the neighboring house was saved and the majority of the fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes. Heavy overhaul and checking for fire extension into the attic took two more hours of hard work in 104 degree temperatures. The cause is believed to be accidental in nature and still under investigation. Loss was $75,000 with approximately a $300,000 save to involved house and the neighbor's house
