Taft,  CA

At approximately 06:00 this morning the Kern County Fire Department received calls for smoke and flames coming from a house in the 700 block of Polk Street in Taft, CA. A reinforced alarm was dispatched which included Engines from Taft, Fellows, Maricopa, and Mckittrick. A Truck and Battalion Chief from Taft also responded. First on scene crews found an 800 square foot abandoned house with heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the structure. Crews made an aggressive attack and were able to confirm there were no occupants inside. Fire was knocked down quickly and was contained to the building of origin. Fire investigators responded to the scene and the cause is under investigation. There were no injuries sustained to firefighters or civilians.
