Just after 4:30 AM, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a fire and smoke coming from a 900 square foot one bedroom single-family apartment house in the 200 block of Oregon Street. KCFD Engine 41 had been in the area on an unrelated medical call and arrived first on scene. The crew encountered a well established attic fire. Fire crews deployed hose lines to extinguish the fire and with coordinated work from KCFD Truck 41 the fire did not extend to adjacent apartments. The fire was controlled in approximately 7 minutes. No injuries to civilians or Firefighter’s. An arson investigator was called out to determine cause.
Additional Information: KCFD reminds residents to have a working smoke alarm. Test the smoke alarm monthly and change the batteries twice a year.
