Taft, CA

At approximately 1:00 PM the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for smoke and flames coming from a single family residence. Crews had just completed extinguishing a fully involved detached garage fire, in another area of Taft, and were able to quickly respond to the reported house fire. As crews arrived on scene, they were faced with an approximately 2000 sq ft single family residence and a 1200 sq ft 2 story addition to the back of the single story home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the windows and eaves. The fire was threatening two neighboring houses to the north and south as well as a detached garage in the back of the property of the home on fire. Crews made an aggressive attack on the fire, preventing the fire from spreading to any of the nearby structures. A primary and secondary search was conducted and was all clear. Cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries to firefighters as a result of this fire.
