At 6:36 a.m., Kern County Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire in the city of Wasco.  Engine 31 arrived on scene and reported that a residential structure was 50% involved—heavy fire conditions to the front porch and entry.  Firefighters attacked the fire and performed an interior search for occupants—the single occupant was able to exit the burning home from a door leading out to the back yard.  Smoke detectors were present, but failed to alert the sleeping resident.

Firefighters were able to save $75,000 of the structure, however the fire caused $75,000 damage. One adult is displaced by the fire. No report of injuries to civilians or firefighters.

Please remember to test smoke detectors monthly.  Smoke detectors save lives!
