Bakersfield, CA

At 11:35 AM, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a grassfire 3 miles east of David Road. Kern County Fire crews arrived on scene to find an approximately 10 acre fire in the grass with a moderate rate of spread. Two helicopters and 2 air tankers arrived on scene and was able to make multiple drops to stop the forward progress of the fire. Fire crews and Helicopter crews aggressively fought the fire on the ground to make a full containment of the fire and stopped it at 15.5 acres.  

Fire was started by welding.

The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind residents to make sure they maintain the required defensible space around their home. The Kern County weather is beginning to heat up and humidities are starting to drop, which is causing the vegetation to dry out and become very susceptible to burning.
