Just before 11 PM this evening, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a vacant house on fire in the 2500 block of Security Ave. Callers reported that people may be trapped inside the house, and a reinforced structure response was started by dispatchers. When crews arrived on scene, they encountered a fire in the front living room of a 1,000 square foot single-family home. They made access through the front door and extinguished the fire while looking for victims. No victims were found and no injuries were reported. The fire was controlled in approximately 15 minutes and caused an estimated $20,000 in damage. KCFD Fire Investigators responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
