The Kern County Fire Department has applied for a grant to purchase rescue equipment to provide coverage at the Jawbone Canyon and Dove Springs Off Highway Vehicle Parks in Eastern Kern County. Hundreds of thousands of visitors ride and drive their off-highway vehicles in these areas annually and KCFD responds to numerous calls for rescue and medical aid due to accidents.  Since the nearest fire stations are over thirty miles away from these areas, we wish to outfit trailers that can be parked on scene during big events and holidays so that our personnel are ready for immediate response to the Public's needs.

Public comment is required for this grant request. Please voice your support for KCFD's grant request by e-mailing OHVinfo@parks.ca.gov  The public comment period runs from March 2nd to April 5th, 2010.
