Station 65 Grand Opening

KERN COUNTY, CA – On Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department will host the Grand Opening of the new Fire Station #65, located at 10051 Meacham Rd, in Northwest Bakersfield. This Grand Opening Ceremony will feature an inaugural flag raising by the Kern County Fire Department Honor Guard, dedication by Kern County Fire Chief Brian Marshall and by Kern County Supervisor Mike Maggard, and an opportunity to tour the new facility.

Station #65 is the latest fire station to be built in Kern County, and serves an area that saw an increase in emergency call volume of more than 81% over the last seven years. Station #65 can accommodate up to 11 firefighters, and will house Truck 65, Engine 65, Patrol 65, and be the Battalion 6 headquarters.

The new Fire Station #65 will replace the outdated facility located on Rosedale Hwy, just east of Calloway Dr, and create a safer and healthier working environment for firefighters, while simultaneously reducing the risk of danger for the public traveling on Rosedale Hwy.
