Bakersfield, CA

At 10:43 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department’s Emergency Communication Center received multiple calls reporting a building on fire. Firefighters were dispatched to the 12100 block of Rosedale Highway. While firefighters were responding information was received that the building on fire was part of a pest control business. Due to the potential threat to health and environment, from chemicals on scene, Hazardous Materials crews were requested to respond. Upon arrival fire was seen spreading to the house from a detached garage. Firefighters from Kern County Fire Department and Bakersfield City Fire worked together to quickly control and extinguish the fire. The damages from the fire were mostly contained to the garage. There were no injuries to civilians or fire personnel.

Hazardous Materials crews found no threat to health or environment after identifying types and amounts of chemicals on scene. Additional testing by Kern County Environmental Health confirmed water run off from firefighting operations to be chemical free.
