At approximately 03:55 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department received calls for smoke and flames coming from a commercial building in the 1400 block of Crestmont Drive, Bakersfield, CA. First on scene crews found an approximately 3200 square foot single-story commercial structure with heavy smoke and fire shooting through the roof. In an effort to keep fire personnel safe and without reports of occupants inside, crew decide to use defensive fire tactics from the exterior. An elevated hose stream from Truck 41 led to the fire being knocked down quickly and contained to the structure of origin. A third hose line was strategically employed to effectively protect an adjacent structure. The cause is under investigation. There were no injuries sustained to firefighters or civilians.
