At 10:07 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department’s Emergency Communication Center received multiple calls for dark smoke coming from the garage of a house. Fire engines were dispatched to the 800 block of Philippine Street. The first arriving engine company encountered a fire in a garage that had extended into the attached residence. An aggressive interior attack was made to prevent further fire spreading into the living areas of the home. Firefighters were able to quickly control and extinguish the fire. As a result of fire damages two adults and one minor were displaced. There were no injuries to civilians or fire personnel.

During fire suppression efforts one dog was rescued from the home. The dog appears to be uninjured and was reunited with its owners.
