Arvin, CA

Just before 3:00 am dispatchers, at the Kern County Fire Department Emergency Communications Center, received reports for an unknown type of fire. Multiple reporting parties indicated that the fire was growing rapidly and threatening nearby homes. When the first fire companies arrived, they found a fully involved structure fire as well as multiple vehicles on fire. A strategy to aggressively fight the fire, while systematically searching for potential patients was initiated. This bold action by firefighters kept the fire contained which saved multiple
homes and a travel trailer. Good communication between fire companies, was a key to successfully overcoming access issues and working near downed power lines safely. Personnel were on scene for approximately two hours to ensure the fire was completely extinguished. There were no civilians or firefighters injured.

Assisting Agencies: County Building Department, PG&E, SCE.
