At approximately 12:00 p.m. today, the Kern County Fire Department received calls for a structure fire in the1200 Block of Jacona Avenue in Delano.  Due to the excessive heat a second alarm was started for man power.  The first arriving units encountered a  single family residence with fire coming out of the roof that had collapsed and an exposure to the west beginning to ignite.  Crews aggressively attacked the fire keeping it contained to the house of origin and protecting the other the house.  Crews initial attack was difficult due to a locked wrought iron gate and roof top solar panels in the area were the roof had collapsed.  The fire was brought under control in 45 minutes. Crews will remain on scene for a few more hours for mop up.  Damage is estimated at $130,000 with $100,000 saved. Two adults inside the home were alerted to the fire by the smell of smoke coming from the patio area in the backyard. One adult male received minor injuries to the top of his hands. He refused treatment and was not transported to the hospital.  There were no injuries to fire personnel. The cause is under investigation, but is believed to be accidental
