At approximately 11:07 p.m. the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for a structure fire in the 1500 block of Clinton Street. The first arriving unit encountered a single family residence about 30% involved. Crews aggressively attacked the fire keeping the fire contained and protecting exposures on two sides of the structure.

One resident was awakened by sounds of the burning fire and escaped without injury. No working smoke detectors were inside the residents. Crews remained on scene to extensively mop-up.

The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind you to check your smoke detectors regularly and replace the batteries every six months.
