Shorty after 11:00 a.m., multiple calls were received for a structure fire near Woollomes Avenue and Famoso Porterville Highway.  A reinforced alarm was dispatched.  The first arriving firefighters reported one structure already completely burned to the ground and three nearby structures on fire, with several more structures threatened.  Additional engines were dispatched. Firefighters confirmed that the buildings were not occupied and made a defensive attack.  Hose lines were positioned to protect an adjacent vineyard and farm equipment from the radiant heat of the burning buildings.  A total of five structures were destroyed and one was saved.  Firefighters were able to save the most of the nearby vineyard, however some grapes were damaged by the fire.

Fire cause is under investigation.  There were no injuries to firefighters.

Tall, dry grass next to the abandoned structures contributed to the fire's rapid spread.  Create and maintain defensible space around your property.
