Around 10:20 this morning, the Kern County Fire Department received multiple reports of fire and smoke showing from a building in the 700 block of Angus Ln. A reinforced structure fire response was started. First arriving crew encountered a 2000 square foot personal storage shop with heavy smoke and fire showing. A defensive attack was started to protect nearby exposures. After the fire was knocked down, crews began an interior attack to completely extinguish any flare ups. The flames were extinguished in approximately 2 hours and crews remained on scene to mop up. Angus Lane has been closed at this time, but should be re-opened in 2 hours. The storage shop is considered a total loss. No exposures were damaged. Dollar loss is still to be determined. No citizens or firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
