At 9:43 A.M. this morning, Kern County Firefighters were dispatched to a call for a structure fire in the 22000 block of Arnds Drive in Tehachapi. Twenty-seven firefighters responded to the incident. Upon arrival, firefighters from Kern County Fire Station 13 in Golden Hills were faced with a fully-involved garage fire. The growing fire quickly spread into the living area of as well as the attic. An aggressive attack by firefighters saved 75% of the house. The blaze was fully extinguished by 10:45 A.M. An adult male sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene and refused transport by ambulance.
There were no injuries to firefighters. An estimated $250,000.00 of the house was saved, however $150,000 damage was done to the structure. The fire was caused by a mechanical problem from a pickup truck that ignited items in the garage.
