Bear Valley, CA

Shorty before 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, the Kern County Fire Department was notified of a possible fire burning near the intersection of Fawn Way and Deer Trail Drive in Bear Valley Springs. Once on scene first arriving crews encountered a fire in light flashy fuels with a slow rate of spread.  In all, 40+ firefighters from Kern County aggressively attacked the flames and stopped the fire's progression in a little over 30 minutes .  Nine Type 3 and Type 6 Engines, 2 Bulldozers, 2 Hand Crews, 2 Battalion Chiefs, a Safety Officer and a Water Tender supported the operations.  The fire is presently 100% contained. Crews remained on scene for approximately 2 more hours for mop up.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
