Just after 1:00 p.m. this afternoon, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a house on fire in the 600 block of Barlow Street.  A reinforced structure response was started by dispatchers.  When crews arrived on scene, they encountered a large fire to the rear of the 1,200 square foot single-family home.  Crews pulled hose lines to the rear of the property to extinguish the fire and protect neighboring homes.  A search of the home was completed and crews located an uninjured caged guinea pig.  It was cleaned at the scene by Firefighters and given to the tenants.  No other victims were found and no injuries were reported.  The fire was controlled in approximately 22 minutes and caused an estimated $50,000 in damage.  KCFD Fire Investigators responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.  Seven people were displaced by the fire and they are arranging their own temporary accommodations.
