Just before 2:30 a.m. the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a structure fire in the 1000 block of Mount Vernon Avenue.  The call was from a passerby that could see smoke and flames coming from an office building on the property of a tow truck yard.  When firefighters arrived, they encountered an exterior fire to the rear of a single story office building of approximately 1200 square feet.  The fire had extended up the wall and into the attic space of the structure.  Firefighters attacked the fire and vertically ventilated the structure.  A search for victims was made on the interior.  None were found and no persons were injured.  Firefighters extinguished the fire in 20 minutes.  KCFD Fire Investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
