CUMMINGS VALLEY, CA

Just before 11:30 AM, the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for a grass fire on Highway 202 between Cummings Valley Road and Bear Valley Road. KCFD units from Stallion Springs, Bear Valley, Golden Hills, Tehachapi and Keene responded to the incident. Upon arrival, crews encountered a 1.5 acre grass fire with a moderate rate of spread threatening one home. Two additional Patrols and Helicopter 408 were requested. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire and were able to stop it before it damaged the home. The fire was contained in thirty minutes and held at 3 acres.

Additional Information: This was Engine 312's first fire. Engine 312 was purchased for KCFD by the Tehachapi Windmill Companies and put into service last Friday.
