EDISON, CA

Just after 7:30 PM, the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for a fire in a large metal commercial building in the 12800 block of Edison Hwy. The first responding unit from KCFD Station 45 in Edison reported heavy black smoke from a large metal shop approximately 75 feet by 450 feet. At that time, the reinforced alarm was upgraded into a 2 Alarm Fire. The crew made contact with the facility security guard who assisted in opening the roll up doors in the front of the structure. The firefighters made access and encountered a large amount of fire. Crews worked on extinguishing the fire while incoming units assisted with establishing a water supply through a Tanker Shuttle Operation from a distant fire hydrant. The fire was controlled in approximately 25 minutes. KCFD Fire Investigators are looking into the cause.
