Just after 9:30 this morning, the Kern County Fire Department received multiple calls for a structure fire in the 400 block of Naylor Ave. The first arriving crew encountered a single family dwelling fully involved in flames. The fire was spreading to residences on both sides of the home. A second alarm was started. Crews worked to protect the exposures and control the fire. The fire extended into the attics of both neighboring homes, requiring firefighters to remove portions of the ceiling to extinguish the flames. The fire was controlled in approximately 40 minutes. KCFD Fire Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. The home where the fire originated was vacant. The Red Cross was called to assist one family of two adult males, two adult females and one minor male with temporary accommodations.
