 BAKERSFIELD, CA

Shortly after 2 PM this afternoon, the Kern County Fire Department received a report of a structure fire in the 3900 block of Brundage Lane. First arriving crews discovered a 20,000 sq.ft. warehouse with smoke coming from the South side of the structure. A reinforced structure response was initiated due to extreme temperatures and initial reports of fireworks being stored in an adjacent building. As the call progressed a total of 7 engines and 2 ladder trucks were dispatched to the incident. The automatic fire sprinkler system had already activated when fire crews first arrived. Initial incident priorities were to support the fire sprinkler system and to conduct a primary search for any occupants. The building was determined to be unoccupied. Quick actions by fire crews prevented the fire from spreading beyond the building of origin and the fire was under control within 30 minutes. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature. There are no injuries to report.

Additional Information: The Kern County Fire Department would like to emphasize the important role that automatic fire sprinkler systems play in the quick extinguishment of fires and the overall protection to property and contents.
