Structure Fire - 27000 Block of Cypress Street, Taft

Just after 3:48 pm the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a Structure Fire in the 27000 block of Cypress Street in Valley Acres near Taft. Seventeen firefighters responded to the incident.  Upon arrival, firefighters were faced with a 1400 square foot home that was 70% involved with fire.  Firefighters were able to control the blaze quickly and save an RV parked nearby. Initial reports indicated a possible burn victim, but the resident was treated for minor injuries at the scene and refused further treatment.

Damages are estimated at $75,000.00 and firefighters were able to save approximately $25,000.00 worth of property. The cause of the fire is under investigation and there were no reported injuries to firefighters.
