Structure Fire - 1900 Block of Niles Street, Bakersfield

Current Situation: At approximately 10:30 am the Kern County Fire Department communications center received numerous calls for a structure fire. First arriving units found a vacant 2 story single family dwelling with heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house. The first due engine pulled 2 jump lines to attack the fire and keep it from spreading to the rest of the structure and adjacent buildings. Kern County Fire Engine and Truck 41 were assisted by the Bakersfield City Fire Dept. with fire attack and ventilation operations. The fire was contained to the structure of origin. This vacant house has burned several times before and has been frequented by squatters and homeless people. No injuries to civilians firefighters. The cause is under investigation by the Kern County Arson Squad.

Road Closures: 1 lane of west bound Niles St.

Cooperating Agencies: Bakersfield Fire Dept.
