EAST BAKERSFIELD, CA - Monday January 25th 2010 at approximately 8:22 A.M., a call was received by the Kern County Fire Department for an apartment fire in the 2000 block of Quincy St in East Bakersfield.  Approximately 17 Kern County Firefighters responded to the incident, with assistance from Bakersfield City firefighters.

Upon arrival, crews were faced with a boarded up and vacant duplex apartment building. Fire crews made an aggressive interior attack of the property and also protected the surrounding properties from the spread of fire; simultaneously other fire crews ventilated the roof of the structure. The fire was subsequently knocked down within approximately 14 minutes and contained to the structure of origin.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, by the Kern County Arson Investigation Unit.
